New Moon in Leo: It’s Time to Master Your Destiny

Since time immemorial, the lion has been admired—often for the same reasons it was feared. In Mesopotamia, the lion was known for its strength and savagery as much as it’s grace and beauty. It’s no wonder such powerful deities such as the sun-god Utu, and the king of the Underworld Nergal were sometimes compared to lions or given lion-like attributes (think lion’s mane and rays of the sun). But while the occasional mighty king and god were got the offhand comparison, there was only deity who owned the title of celestial lion: The Sumerian goddess Inanna (dinana 𒈹)—the Lioness of Heaven.

Full Moon in Capricorn: Be Authentically and Unapologetically You

We find the Full Moon culminating in the stars of Capricorn this month, as the Sun is transiting from the constellation Cancer to Leo. When the Sun moves through a constellation, it directs our focus and challenges in alignment with the spirit of that constellation. Our New Moon in Cancer planted the seeds related to emotional needs, past imprints, and infused loads of sensitivity to the vibe. All the feels, memories, and themes around family and home came into focus.

New Moon in Cancer: Rediscover Your Power of Creation

In classical and Vedic astrology, the zodiac sign of Cancer has associations with the Moon, and is thus said to be emotional and sensitive, and connected to the home and maternity. But the Mesopotamian counterpart was quite different—a masculine force of creation with an unparalleled analytical ability.

New Moon in Gemini: Finding Love in the Darkness

Long before Gemini was associated with Castor and Pollux, the two figures in the constellation of Gemini were known as MULMAŠ.TAB.BA(GAL.GAL) 𒀯𒈦𒋰𒁀(𒃲𒃲), the Great Twins. While they were described as brothers, the names attributed to them were Lugalirra and Meslamtae(a); both epithets for the god of the death, pestilence, and the underworld, Nergal—the god embodied in the planet Mars.

The Simple Freedom of the Progressed Lunation Cycle

It’s a quiet struggle, learning to float with the current, release expectation, and yet still follow the stars and the planets—our very human way of trying to glimpse what waits beyond the bend. A few years ago, I found myself falling out of love with astrology. Maybe it was the noise of social media—the constant stream of posts charting one planet’s move into one sign, then its dance with another, and another—until the magic felt mechanical.

Book Review—The 13th Sign: Ophiuchus and the Astrology They Don’t Want You to See

Sidereal Astrology has been the subject of many debates, but none more often than now as the world awakens to the realization that astrology in the mainstream doesn’t use the real sky! As technology has become more advanced, it’s given the world an opportunity to look at the stars in a way that hasn’t been for so long. The word is out, and many of us will never go back to the traditional astrology we once relied on for guidance.

Full Moon in Ophiuchus: Death, Rebirth, & Transformation

As the moon builds its way into its peak fullness, I can’t help but picture the archetype of the spiritual Hierophant in opposition with the transformative Serpent Bearer. My mind is swimming with thoughts of the cosmic priest that is the keeper of all the sacred knowledge and secrets of the Universe facing the master of death, rebirth, and transcendence, like some kind of sci-fi galactic stare off. Oh yes, it also makes me think of the journey Inanna took deep into the underworld, being stripped of all her possessions to face the Queen of the dead, Ereshkigal.
