The Best Astrology Advice

As a baby astrologer, there was one piece of advice I was given, and it was to journal every day. I feel it is the most important piece of advice for anyone practicing and learning astrology. How the stars align with the individual chart is sacred and unique. That’s why astrology journaling is so important!

To know what was happening in your chart through something like the birth of a baby or when you met a person for the first time is important. It helps you align planetary influences in certain parts of your chart and gives context for future predictions and observations

We are lucky in this day and age to have timestamps on pictures and emails, so even if you don’t like to journal, much can be gleaned from those sources alone. To have a big picture of your chart is to have observed your chart through the past and present, and make inferences on future cycles of the planetary transits, especially the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars. Because they move quickly, they can speak to us a little louder. With the slower-moving planets, their resonance is felt much deeper and their influence is longer lasting.

The Power of Astrology

Astrology can be likened to God opening a door to heaven and giving each and every one of us a guide as a reference point to ask ourselves, “Why are we here? What is our purpose?”

To be honest, if each one of us were to sit down and listen to our soul, we wouldn’t necessarily need astrology. But astrology helps us as humans to put things into context within our daily, mundane lives.

The Power of Journaling

Anyone who has ever become interested in astrology is looking for something that will explain occurrences in one’s life. We are looking for a way to understand ourselves and others around us. We ask ourselves, “Is there a correlation between this placement in my chart and the interaction I am having with this person, place, or thing?”

It’s not an exact science in that way, because we as humans cannot be impartial. We don’t operate that way. We have emotions and wounds, and we as individuals are a completely unique aspect of the universal ecosystem. What we can monitor are the patterns in our lives. We all have them, and that is where the astrology journaling comes in handy. Our memories are faulty and our consciousness changes from day to day. The journal can give one a framework to work with.

Astrology Journaling in Practice

The most basic planetary transit that would give you a sense of where you are in the realm of cosmic patterns is the lunar transit. The Moon is the closest celestial body to us and can convey messages in a simple, succinct manner. For example, I use the app Google Keep. I title it with the date and sign the Moon is travelling through, and I also add what day I’m experiencing numerologically. For numerology, you can use any app that is specific to a person’s birthday. It helps me to track what kind of day I’m likely to experience.

In the notes section, I’ll notate any dreams I had that night, before waking. I usually do have those come up during the New Moon or Full Moons cycles. The dreams are definitely more vivid at these times. They’re also messengers, and it’s important for me to write them down for later. Last year, I had a dream that I was dropping a family member off at their home, but it wasn’t where they lived at the time. Several months later, they moved. It was a message from my future self that things were changing in my family member’s life, and to pay attention.

If I have an argument with someone, I’ll notate that as well. Sometimes, I just notate mundane things that happened that day. Sometimes they seem mundane, but they are the start or end of something important. Often, we must use our intuition to suss out what is important to write down. If you want to get super specific, you could add the time of day something occurred.

If I forget to write anything for the day, I can always go back to my pictures and emails, as they’re my backup plan.

For Ourselves, the Community, and Posterity

If you want to understand yourself through the context of astrology, this one simple method will give back in dividends in years to come. Astrology journaling is the unique history of you, and it is a gift you can give yourself and perhaps share with the whole of the astrological community. We can all share our stories through the lens of the celestial skies in relation to our experience as a whole and separately, and on a deeper level, gift these stories to our descendants.

Our experiences and our observations have value as astrologers and keepers of celestial wisdom. Thousands of years later, we are still reading the observations of Mesopotamian astrologers because we recognize their value, and they did, too.
