ISAA Member Code of Ethics
1. Purpose
The International Sidereal Astrology Association (ISAA) is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in the practice and representation of sidereal astrology. This Code of Ethics establishes the expectations for Professional and Founding Members, and ISAA Certified Astrologers, Instructors, and Scholars (“ISAA Members”).
By becoming an ISAA Member, you agree to adhere to the following ethical guidelines in all professional practices, client interactions, and public representations.
2. Commitment to Sidereal Astrology
ISAA Members must exclusively use sidereal astrology calculations based on fixed-star placements in all professional readings and forecasts. ISAA Members may not promote or endorse the use of tropical astrology as a valid system.
The use of tropical astrology for predictive or interpretive purposes is strictly prohibited, except when used for educational comparison. If discussing tropical astrology for comparison, ISAA Members must clearly state that it does not reflect actual astronomical positions.
Any public-facing content (website, social media, publications, etc.) should reflect a commitment to sidereal astrology and not mislead clients by incorporating tropical interpretations.
3. Ethical Conduct & Professionalism
A. Integrity in Client Interactions
ISAA Members must provide clear, honest, and factually accurate astrological insights. No fear-based predictions, excessive fatalism, or misleading claims should be made that could create unnecessary anxiety for clients.
ISAA Members should avoid making medical, financial, or legal claims unless properly certified in those fields, and should always encourage clients to consult the appropriate professionals when necessary.
B. Confidentiality
All client consultations must be treated as strictly confidential. No client information, including birth data or personal readings, may be shared without explicit written consent of the client.
C. Informed Consent
Clients should be fully informed of the nature and limitations of astrology services before receiving a reading. Clear disclaimers should be provided stating that astrology is a tool for guidance and insight, not an absolute determinant of fate.
D. Respect for Client Autonomy
ISAA Members must respect the free will of clients and not impose their own personal beliefs or judgments.
Readings should empower clients rather than create dependency.
4. Fair & Transparent Business Practices
ISAA Members must clearly disclose service fees before a consultation and honor refund policies as stated on their business platforms.
False advertising, deceptive marketing, or exaggerated claims of astrological accuracy or infallibility are strictly prohibited.
Testimonials and endorsements must be genuine and not manipulated.
5. Professional Representation
A. Public Communication
ISAA Members must present themselves professionally in all public engagements, including social media, websites, lectures, and publications.
The ISAA is committed to promoting sidereal astrology based on astronomical accuracy. As part of this mission, ISAA Members may critique or challenge the use of tropical astrology, especially in cases where it results in misinformation or undermines the credibility of the astrological field.
While ISAA Members are encouraged to engage in spirited debate and to expose inaccuracies in tropical-based systems and unethical practices, all discourse should remain focused on ideas and avoid personal attacks.
ISAA Members should refrain from derogatory or inflammatory language toward individuals. However, they are within their rights to publicly state that tropical astrology is factually inaccurate, and to advocate for a sidereal framework with clarity, evidence, and conviction.
6. Use of the ISAA Official Seals
Only ISAA Members in good standing may use the ISAA Seals on their websites, business materials, and marketing.
Misuse of the seal (e.g., by non-members or expired members) may result in revocation of membership and legal action.
7. Continuous Learning & Development
ISAA Members are encouraged to pursue ongoing education in sidereal astrology to refine their skills and maintain accuracy in their practice.
ISAA Members should engage with current sidereal research, historical texts, and contemporary advancements in the field.
8. Mutual Support & Community Engagement
ISAA Members are part of a professional and educational community committed to the advancement of sidereal astrology. ISAA Members are encouraged to actively support, mentor, and collaborate with one another in a spirit of generosity and integrity.
Whenever feasible, ISAA Members are encouraged to offer discounted services, resources, or mentorship to fellow ISAA Members.
Certified ISAA Scholars are expected to foster a culture of education and inquiry by remaining open to providing reasonable research or educational assistance, particularly to student members who are building their knowledge and skills.
9. Enforcement & Accountability
A. Reporting Ethical Violations
ISAA Members and the public may report violations of this Members Code of Ethics to the ISAA Ethics Committee.
Complaints must be submitted with documented evidence of the alleged violation.
B. Disciplinary Actions
Violations of this Code of Ethics may result in the following actions:
1) Formal Warning: Issued for minor infractions with an opportunity for correction.
2) Probationary Period: Suspension of certain ISAA Membership privileges for repeat offenses.
3) Membership Revocation: Permanent removal from ISAA for severe or repeated violations.
C. Appeals Process
ISAA Members subject to disciplinary action have the right to appeal by submitting a formal request to the ISAA Ethics Committee within 30 days of notification.
10. Agreement & Compliance
By maintaining ISAA Membership, you agree to uphold this Code of Ethics in all professional activities. Failure to adhere to these standards may result in disciplinary action as outlined in Section 9.
