Transformation Through Feeling
We find the Full Moon culminating in the stars of Capricorn this month, as the Sun is transiting from the constellation Cancer to Leo. When the Sun moves through a constellation, it directs our focus and challenges in alignment with the spirit of that constellation. Our New Moon in Cancer planted the seeds related to emotional needs, past imprints, and infused loads of sensitivity to the vibe. All the feels, memories, and themes around family and home came into focus.
In his book “The Pulse of Life,” Dane Rudhyar talks about the zodiac as a working cycle, and Cancer speaks to the development of the ‘inner container’, and retreat is necessary to re-establish some sort of emotional security. In Cancer, we become reactive through feeling our internal patterns and emotional processes. It becomes a stage of experience in defining our relationship with ourselves and with others, saying, “Hey, this matters to me”.
We create feelings of security and safety around what we know and how it makes us feel, building off the information gathered in the Gemini process. Cancer is associated with the cardinal modality, and with the element of water because it predominately initiates transformation through feeling. Astronomically, it takes the Sun about 20 days to move through the constellation Cancer. Though short, it proves to be a potent time for deeper introspection and intimate shadow work.
Full Moon Climax
As the Sun transitions from Cancer to Leo, you can see how it is symbolic of coming out of your shell. In that transition space, tucked between constellations, lives an identity crisis energy that challenges our self-image and pride. Leo is ruled by the Sun, our creative flame of personal light. In Leo, we do want to be recognized, to feel connection and acceptance from others, and express from our own unique well of originality.
As the Sun pushes into the Leo-Capricorn axis, we experience a pull between structure and authority with individuality and creativity. This little slice of opposition can have us wanting to step into the light but experiencing tension between a desire to be seen and the anxiety of being socially accepted.
Leo and Capricorn do share common themes. For example, both want to leave a good impression on the world. Both are ambitious and have a reputation for devotion and loyalty. We also see this desire to create something long-lasting and legacy worthy, as well. Generally, this cycle could have us reframing how we view structure in relation to our creative expression. Leo matures when the realization happens that Capricorn’s discipline isn’t actually a buzzkill or creative block; it’s the boundaries that can channel Leo’s creative energy into something legendary.
The Full Moon climax can bring intense emotions to the surface; the energies in Saturn-ruled Capricorn become the mirror, and expression is inevitable. When we observe retrograde Saturn, we see opportunities to level up, take accountability, and resolve lessons that seem to repeat themselves. Pay attention to the house Saturn is transiting and in your own chart, and you’ll get an idea of where themes around this cycle are manifesting for you.
Oppositions never fail to reveal the need for balance or integration. Maybe you’re no longer willing to sacrifice your personal needs for the sake of stability or unrealistic societal expectations. This cycle could help us discover what’s worth the emotional investment and what no longer fits in relation to work, relationships, and social circles. This full moon could bring up themes around our need for freedom suppressed out of duty and creative ideas that need some grounding before taking off. Finding a balance that works for you, the individual, is key.
A Revolution Is Growing
The current astro energies contributing to this lunar cycle are big, powerful, and transformative. What we are seeing is a quiet revolution and transformation of society’s cultural values. These energies have us thinking about how we seek security in futuristic and groundbreaking ways with Uranus moving through Taurus. Neptune & Saturn in Pisces challenge our understanding of what the real world really looks like and what the future could be if we ground our illusions. Pluto in Capricorn reflects a growing collective distrust in all forms of authority and traditional powers that be.
We can see that a revolution is growing, core systems and structures are dissolving, and radical change is approaching. We’re watching old timelines collapse, the geo-political landscape transforming, and we’re questioning what it is we really believe in deeply, meaningfully. The collective is still experiencing systemic change, not new fiery beginnings. That being said, it’s my hope this lunar cycle gives you clarity around your purpose and confidence to be authentically and unapologetically yourself as we transition into this bold new Leo season.
