Full Moon in Aquarius
Eclipse Season is Here!

When I think of the Full Moon, I wonder about how it always seems to set the stage for some spooky supernatural event in cinematic Hollywood stories. The dead rise from their graves, or the neighbor turns out to be a werewolf, transforming into a beastly creature, ravaging the neighborhood in the full moonlight. Why is it only on the Full Moon that a werewolf transforms? Do they feel the pressure or urge to transform each Quarter Moon too? Funny how our brains tack on associations and symbolisms with these sorts of things. What does howling at the Moon have to do with this cycle? Well, that’s the thing; this isn’t just any Full Moon cycle; it belongs to the Eclipse Season.
A Total Lunar Eclipse is an opposition of the Sun and Moon that can only occur when the astro-weather is just right. The Sun and Moon need to be contra parallel in declination, as well as opposed, and both conjunct the Moon’s nodes with tight established limits of orb. A Solar Eclipse will always tend to follow 14 days before or after a lunar eclipse. So, though not rare, the conditions need to be just right for the Earth to beam its shadow onto our satellite, the Moon.
Each eclipse, whether solar or lunar, is also a part of a bigger-picture cycle, called a Saros Series, a cycle that averages over 1,200-year period. The Babylonians were the first to notice these cycles, and kept centuries of sky records on clay tablets. They could predict eclipses with accuracy by observing the cycles over time. A Saros cycle is basically the eclipse’s way of hitting replay every 18 years. So that means every 18 years you’ll see a similar solar or lunar eclipse happen again. Patterns repeat in our lives and histories, disguised as new lessons. These big celestial events return, but never exactly the same as before.

The Aquarius/Leo Axis
The Full Moon is just like any other opposition where we have to discover ways to integrate, balance, and harmonize the push-pull energy we may be experiencing. This is a special Full Moon this lunar cycle, because it introduces a Total Lunar Eclipse in the Aquarius/Leo axis. The energy gets cranked up a few notches, emotions run higher than before, and long-standing issues seem to pivot their way onto your path, no matter how hard you’ve tried to side-step them.
A Total Lunar eclipse is known to force necessary confrontations, set in motion significant emotional upheaval, and even correlate with fated events that trigger a person to make some pretty crucial life adjustments. When the lunar nodes are activated, it ties the energy directly into our life direction, causing karmic shifts, and course corrections in personal and collective areas of life. To some, it may feel like the curse of the werewolf, wherein we experience the overwhelming emotional fear of total transformation, knowing there’s no going back to the way things once were. Others may not see disruption or change as a curse, but instead experience a feeling of total freedom—even liberation. It could express itself as a recognition of transformation, as a catalyst, clarity around self-awareness, or as a potential to explore deeper modes of healing.
How does the energy of this Total Lunar Eclipse play out for the individual? The Aquarius/ Leo axis is a perfect playground for building the stage, reimagining your character on this collective show called Earth. And like a true actor—100% committed to playing the part—asking yourself questions like: What is my motivation? What about my character needs transforming, moving on to the next act? The energy is encouraging you to be open, to get a little weird with it, and reimagine your role, not only as an individual, but as a collective player rediscovering his or her social identity & collective destiny.
Balancing the Energies

Jupiter gives its blessing trine the Moon and sextile the Sun. Jupiter in Gemini observes and influences the future based on pattern recognition. Jupiter has learned from the behavior, both habitual and societal patterns. The vision of where the future trajectory is pointing is evident, clearing a path for new growth and change. From a mundane perspective, the South Node and Sun together in Leo could expose where leaders have misused power, and mark the fall of old, outdated supremacy models. We could see a peak in group shakeups related to government reform, innovative solutions related to social justice reform, and in turn, see economic shifts as a result. You may see big-picture causes come into the spotlight, like humanitarianism, and a move toward a global peace initiative.
This energy has the potential for connecting with new alliances, building stronger social networks, and initiating global social movements. Let’s not forget the release of developing technology like AI, and its long-standing effects on our fellow earthlings. It’s revolutionizing the future, but at what cost to our youth? I think moving forward, and as the North Node continues to transit Aquarius, we will start asking ourselves more questions about technology and its active role in our daily lives.
It’s through the astrological houses that we see this celestial event unfold. Each axis is like a seesaw, and life asks us to balance both ends. What house axis is this Lunar Eclipse happening for you?
For myself, I’m experiencing this energy in my 1st/7th house axis, where I’m already discovering the person I’ve become in the past several months is different from the person I’ve identified with for so long. I’ve learned that to truly experience evolution in my relationships, it’s crucial to feel the shift inside first.
Other Astrological Axes
- The 2nd/8th axis becomes about ‘what is mine and yours’, with issues around security, intimacy, and possessiveness coming into the picture.
- The 3rd/9th axis will highlight information, learning, and bigger picture realizations.
- The 4th/10th house axis is about finding a balance between our private, home life, and worldly, work life.
- The 5th/11th house axis is about play and purpose. It’s about creation, invention, and building collective goals with your people.
- Lastly, the 6th/12th house axis ties into our daily routines, and the daydreams that get us through the tasks. You may ask yourself, is my routine healthy enough to surrender to?
